After four editions, KID, the children’s fashion trade show in Paris is making a mark and becoming known for exposing unique, independent kid’s fashion brands that are featured in a boutique style setting. For the visitor, the salon is easy to access (located in central Paris) and each brand is displayed in a spacious, three story loft style building which allows for up close and personal viewings. Many young brands that are often overlooked at Playtime are given more of a chance to shine at Kid.
It’s perhaps normal to compare the trade shows Playtime and Kid because they are held during the same dates and the same city. The Playtime Paris trade show remains the principal leader in France for kids fashion due to the large number of designer brands (over 500) and the traffic that they bring into their salon each season. Although certain designers crave to be in a more healthy, less salon style environment, several exhibitors are nearly obligated to be at Playtime due to the traffic and the notoriety of the salon. Despite Playtime Paris leaving little room for competition, for buyers, both shows are very practical and useful to visit. Each player has managed to create their niche in this vast market in which each and every shop wants to carry unique, international kids fashion brands.
Some of our favorites at KID this season include accessory brands Titlee, Whole, La Langerie, and Sons + Daughters. Our favorite coup de coeur fashion brands include up and coming Tambere, Colchik, Cavalier Vault, Cataleya, Moumout Paris, Diapers and Milk, and Hippie Ya. A few new brands that we will continue to follow include Fresh Dinosaurs from Majorca and Melula Shoes from Denmark.
