Have you fallen into the puzzle craze lately? It happens to be one of the best non-screen family time activities to participate in while at home. It’s easy to do a puzzle while spending quality time together. Whether a parent with a young child, pre-teens or teenagers, there are so many puzzles for all ages and tastes.
Several popular puzzle brands like Ravensberger, Michele Wilson, the New York Puzzle Company produce a large variety of puzzles. Other independent brands like Jiggy Puzzles, Areaware and Piecework (they are all sold out!) make more modern off the wall style puzzles. Personally, no matter what the brand, I like to find an original image, or a puzzle that has a bit of meaning. Don’t we all?
While searching for a few cool puzzles while staying at home, it has been fascinating to read about how puzzles are cut and fabricated. In the 1700’s, jigsaw puzzles were created by painting a picture on a piece of wood and cutting the wood into pieces with a jigsaw. Today, puzzles can be more inventive and creative. For toddlers and younger children, 3-D puzzles are excellent means for keeping kids busy and they are also beautiful decorative objects. For older children, puzzles can be relaxing and fun, perhaps the perfect distraction particularly during these times.
Because time is limited and it is often hard to find a good puzzle, here is a selection of a few of my favorite puzzles for ages 0 – 122.
NOBODINOZ Wild animals wooden blocks (3-6 years)
MELISSA & DOUG Butterfly Garden Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle – 48pc (for 4 years +)
