The Animals Observatory unveils the Finch collection
The Animals Observatory has proudly introduced a fresh capsule collection that draws inspiration from the Finch School of Art. But what exactly is this school? Designer Laia Aguilar pays tribute to this renowned all-girls art institution in New York, which was established in 1900. According to Mrs. Cosgrave, the director and founder of Finch College, she stated, “My primary goal is to ignite Social Consciousness in the girls. I aim for my graduates to become influential forces in their communities, rather than simply fashionable women. I do not indoctrinate these young girls into actual socialism, but rather into Social Activism.” The college’s brochure, Finch and its Future, suggests that it was quite a pioneering “community in which every individual actively participates as a learner, worker, and citizen.”
A timeless collection inspired by enduring ideals
Despite its closure in 1976, the essence of the school lives on through this stunning collection designed for both boys and girls. The lineup features cherry red, vibrant blue, and off-white retro artistic prints, making it a classic choice for children’s fashion, as showcased in this new capsule from The Animals Observatory (often referred to as TAO).
