Maison & Objet Salon: Must-Haves for Kids

Twice a year, in January and September, the salon Maison & Objet showcases home and design products from around the world. From contemporary design to cozy and ethnic styles, this salon is composed of various halls with a special hall dedicated to KIDS. M&O is the ideal trade show for discovering the latest new objects in home decor and toys, as well as trends in children’s design. Here are a few of my favorite finds (especially toys) to discover or re-discover for your kids.

Main Sauvage – These eco-friendly handknit dolls are made in Bolivia and happen to be the ideal size for little ones. Easy to travel with and easy to hold on to, these characters have quirky faces and sober color palettes. Designers Cécile & Julien have invented an entire world of fun with these originally designed stuffed animals. The problem is just which one to choose!

Koa Koa –  The toy brand that follows the Makers Movement, presented at Maison & Objet for their very first time. Koa Koa makes innovative kits that allow children to construct toys while using science, mechanics and technology.  My daughter enjoyed making her very own sound transmission box and the satisfaction of making her own creation made it all worth it. Each kit contains high quality, well thought out products with easy to follow instructions.

Minois : I can’t get enough of this delicate fragrance that is specially made for babies.  Fresh, floral, with a touch of mineral notes, Minois is made in France and offers a line of eaux de toilette, soaps, bath foams, creams, scented candles, all free of parabens, sulfates, phenoxyethanol, silicon, and dyes. This season, Minois will launch a set of three adorable candles in collaboration with illustrator Mathilde Cabanes. A must-have for Mom!

Nailmatic – Already well known for their line of Made in France nail polish for kids and adults, Nailmatic presented their new collection at M&O with an entire bath line including Galaxy balls, soap bars, and also colourful mousse for hair and body.

OMY – If you are not yet a colouring addict, you will surely fall in love with OMY. This brand surprises us with its constant creativity. OMY presents, among other things, very large format coloring posters as well as many design products including party accessories, repositionable wall stickers, placemats, and some special novelties such as embroidered bracelets and skin stickers. Always very graphic and especially fun!

Afilii – This design and architecture platform for children presented several innovative products at Maison & Objet. I particularly like the Cuboro wood and marble strategy games and the beautiful Naseweise brand toys such as the steamboat, compass and catapult.

Leçons de Choses – I love the must-have skateboard inspired shelves and benches that are handcrafted in France and ideal for decorating your child’s room. The style can last for years and grow with your child! This season, Leçons de Choses collaborated with wood sculptor Steph Cop to create a beautiful mountain bag.

Big Stuffed – THE Parisian brand known for their XXL stuffed animals is making a big mark in the children’s universe.  There are only good things to say about the remarkable quality and design. I dream about having 4 or 5 BigStuffed animals to decorate my child’s bedroom.

For info, this year, Maison & Objet has also launched a new website called MOM. MOM which stands for Maison & Objet and More, is an extension of the salon that lasts throughout the year, showcasing a selection of products and trends, and connecting clients through a virtual showroom.
