Halloween is coming up and our kids are starting to ask about costumes that will most likely include wearing face paint. Last year Little G’s entire face was covered with makeup, but his skin became dry and itchy and he scratched it all off before the night even began. This year, we want to make sure that our kid’s delicate skin is at ease with good quality, non toxic makeup that won’t aggravate the face.
Here are some of our finds for natural Halloween Makeup for kids:
– Natural Face Paint Kit from Natural Earth Paint offers a clay and mineral-based paint that contains organic, fair-trade shea butter and organic castor seed oil. This paint applies well with solid colors that dry and don’t smudge. We can actually understand all of the ingredients in the paint including distilled water, Certified Organic castor seed oil, natural clay pigments, ECOMulse (approved for Organic products), Certified Organic Shea Nilotica (Fair-trade shea butter), and 1% Optiphen (a formaldehyde-free preservative). From $2.95 to $17.95
Go Green Face Paint – We love how Go Green proposes makeup sets by theme including Classic Clown, Super Hero Supreme, Princess Perfect, Monster Madness, Snow Queen, and the Multi Pack. Practical and also easy to apply and these paints allow skin to breathe. Go Green uses a s a rice cream based face paint and no water is needed to apply it. From $24.95.
Glob Colors Natural Face Paint – This set contains 5 colors with a bamboo applicator and is good for light makeup. Glob uses botanical extracts, natural colors, and organic ingredients all in eco-friendly, sustainable packaging. Available on Amazon.com. $16
Giotto (also known as LYRA) Make Up Face Pencils are made with palm oil which allows for smooth application. These non-toxic, lead-free, paraben-free pencils are great for adding details to faces. $14.99
Last but not least, the long awaited Nailmatic Kids nail polish is coming out later this month! It washes off easily with warm water and soap, yet stays on all day while respecting Nailmatic’s “4 Free” rule of no phthalates (used as a solvent for dyes and as a plasticizer), no formaldehyde (a nail hardener), no toluene (this is what smells like paint thinner), and no camphor (which acts as a plasticizer). Most nail polishes are known to contain the “toxic trio” including : dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde and toluene, and Nailmatic Kids polish is completely free of these! We tested it out and are seriously in love with this polish even for ourselves. All Nailmatic Kids info can be found on their site: www.nailmatic.com. 6€ per bottle or 18€ for a box of 3
