Always being a fan of Maurice Sendak’s books, I was very touched when discovering this small clip of his last interview (Thanks for sharing C!).
My kids seem to never have enough of Where the Wild Things Are: the images and the simplicity of the story that allows your imagination to run. When we arrived at the pages without text, my kids would say, “Read! Mom! READ THE PAGE!” I would say, “There is no text! There is nothing to say! Just look at the images!” and from that day on, the kids remain patient in front of the page. They spend their time silently watching the images and imagining. That is the beauty in Sendak. Watch this video, it’s sweet, a little bit sad… a true sorrow that is actually heart lifting and beautiful.
